1. Why are we doing this?
The biggest reason is that we want to make room for more people to experience what God is giving us, and ultimately for more people to meet Jesus.
We have noticed that visitors to Immanuel often have a hard time finding enough room to sit comfortably. Some have even left without finding a seat.
2. What will our new Sunday schedule look like?
First Service: 8:30 AM - 9:40 AM
Community Groups: 9:55 AM - 10:45 AM
Second Service: 11:00 AM - 12:10 PM
3. What about community groups? Are they changing?
Aside from a different starting time, they are staying the same.
4. What about children’s ministry?
Kid’s Church will continue as usual during both services. Sunday School will continue as usual during the Community Group hour. The only difference is that Kid’s Church will happen twice each Sunday, 8:30 and 11 AM.
One reason we are excited about this ministry expansion is that volunteers who work with children will now be free to worship every Sunday.
5. Will the two services be different from one another?
Not on purpose!
6. Won’t two services cause us to lose our sense of community?
Biblical community opens up and shares itself. A community that gives itself away is healthy. An open community really experiences community. An ingrown community has already lost real community.
7. How should I choose which service to go to? Should I pick whatever service is most convenient for me?
Pick the service that is most convenient for your friends and neighbors, and invite them. If you aren’t bringing a friend, consider the 8:30 service so we have room for more visitors at 11:00.
8. What are the most important things that every member can do to make this transition successful?
First, pray for God’s presence and power upon us all. Second, ask God to show you ways that you can volunteer at Immanuel. Third, bring your friends and neighbors. We want to meet them, but more importantly we want them to meet Jesus.
9. Which service will Mike Stuckey attend?
In order to spread the love around, we’ve asked Mike to attend both services.
